A wonderful horseback riding get-away starting at the lovely Sueno Azul resort located at Horquetas of Sarapiqui, only 1 hour and 15 minutes from downtown San Jose. The hotel has a unique rustic elegance where the good taste and nature excel equally. It's a terrific place to rest and decontaminate your body and soul. The first day rides take you through the rainforest to a waterfall and across meadows perfect for the first canter.
The next day we transfer to the Jaco Beach on the Pacific Coast, where we arrive just in time for a fantastic ride along the Piedras Negros river.
We then explore the hills and canyons with a tropical vegetation along the Route of the Conquistadores - a ride you will not soon forget. We then work our way from Biajuel all the way over the mountain range to Playa Hermosa, where the next day brings a long day in the saddle, but the scenery with the ocean views will keep you enthralled. The final day will explore Hacienda Agujas. Another great ride through pastures and hills down to another beach area for the last fix of beach riding. A wonderful riding trip come to an end.

Day 1: Meet & Greet at the San Jose International Airport.
Your driver will pick you up at the airport early afternoon and then starts out for Sarapiqui. Overnight at Sueno Azul Resort
Day 2: Morning Rain Forest Ride/ afternoon Rio Foresta
Today you will experience the real rainforest by ridding through it. There is lots to see in the way of wildlife. The ride takes you to a beautiful jungle waterfall. return back to Sueno Azuel .In the afternoon ride to Rio Foresta riding on the FINCA of Sueno Azuel. This ride goes through pasture and forest with good areas to canter. Overnight Sueno Azul Resort. Breakfast (B) Riding time 6 hours
Day 3: Piedras Negros Ride
After a late breakfast transfer to the area of El Rodeo here we ride through incredible forest and river to Piedras Negro. The horses love the cool river where they can splash and rest. These are beautiful trails with often troupes of monkeys passing by. Transfer the very scenic route through Puriscal arriving at the Pacific Coastal area of Jaco. Overnight Hotel Arenal Pacifico, located right on the beach at the far end of Jaco. Breakfast and lunch included this day Dinner on own. There are many great restaurants in Jaco as well as some night life. (BL) Riding time 4 hours
Day 4: Fast Pace Beach Riding.
Next stop is the beach at Palo Seco for one of Costa Rica's most exciting beach rides... this is a long stretch of beach where you can run with your horse in the surf Lunch at La Isla then Overnight Arenal Pacifico. (BL) 3 plus hours riding .
There is time to do and optional Canopy Zip Line tour or perhaps do some shopping in the nearby town of Jaco Beach
Day 5: Hermosa Beach Lookout:Start out at the stables at the Hermosa Beach area, heading to the look out point, pause to take in the beauty of the Pacific coast and Hermosa Beach below, gallop along the vista bordered by virgin rainforest. Ride through stunning farm tracks to arrive at our secret spa waterfall, surrounded by abundant flora and fauna. Time to take a break and enjoy the waterfall pools. Keep your eyes peeled for the white face monkeys and toucans that reside around us. Return at sunset, energized, relaxed and ready for the whole new day of riding tomorrow. Overnight Arenal Pacifico breakfast and lunch included. (BL) 5 hours of riding
Day 6: Mountains Vistas overlooking the Pacific Ocean
From the stables, amble through the picturesque mountains surrounding Hermosa, amazing views are reveled to you at every corner, this is true Costa Rica back country. Descend to the famous surfing town of Jaco beach. Take a beach front lunch, via the old Hermosa Mountain road. The views and flora and fauna are breath taking. There will be more beach riding included with a lunch break then ride back a different route to Hermosa...overnight Arenal Pacifico (BL) 5+hours riding
Day 7: Hacienda Agujas
Morning free to enjoy the beach. Early afternoon transfer to Hacienda Agujas for another great ride through pasture and hills down to another beach area for the last fix of beach riding. Lunch in the quaint village of Aqujas riding back to the hacienda through the village. Transfer back to San Jose-overnight Hotel Villa Tournon. Breakfast, lunch included. (BL) Riding time 4 hours.
Day 8: Depart Costa Rica
Transfer out to the San Jose International Airport... depart. Breakfast included this day. (B)

Tropical and subtropical; dry season (December to April); rainy season (May to November); cooler in highlands. On the Caribbean coast, however, December is by far the wettest month.
Costa Rica is located on the Central American Isthmus, surrounding the point 10° north of the Equator and 84° west of the Prime Meridian. It borders both the Caribbean Sea (to the east) and the North Pacific Ocean (to the west), with a total of 1,290 km of coastline (212 km on the Caribbean coast and 1,016 km on the Pacific)
The tone here is casual wear - it is not necessary to dress up to go to dinner. Comfortable lightweight is best. In the higher elevations, San Jose, the volcanoes, or Monteverde, temperatures are cool and sweaters or light jackets are suggested.
The rainy season runs from the beginning of May through the middle of November. Please keep in mind that even when it rains, it is sunny in the mornings until around mid afternoon. None of the rides are over difficult terrain so it does not matter if the trails are wet. Remember this is the tropics so it is never really cold.
We provide rubber boots (we ask for shoe sizes and height and weight of each rider) and good strong rain ponchos and saddle bags with water and snacks. Pack lightly!!
Please note that we provide rubber boots, but if you prefer to bring riding boots be sure to have them waterproofed. Also note that riding in heavy jeans is very hot so it is recommended you bring riding pants or lightweight pants to ride in. We also provides rain ponchos, however if you have your own rain gear, bring it along.
We recommend for women to ride in leggings with a big shirt over them. The legging is not too hot, and they dry out quickly if they get wet. Dress in layers.
SENSIBLE PRECAUTIONS.... Almost all encounters with noxious insects & plants can be avoided by watching where you walk or sit, by not touching non-recognizable insects, plants, etc;...by tucking pants in your socks, by using an insect repellent, by spraying shoes and ankles to avoid bites and by always following tour guide's instructions to the letter, and finally, leave valuables at home and avoid using perfumes, after-shave, or other scents that will attract insects.
